Mt Kenya

Mt Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya with a height of 5,199 metres. It’s also a national park which covers an area of 877 km2. It has an altitude of 2132 metres above sea level. Main activities here include birds’ nature walk. Physical attractions here include tropical rain forests, waterfalls, highlands, shrub acacia, grasslands, rivers and bamboo forests among others. Animals found in this area include elephants, buffalos, stripped hyenas, water bucks, leopards, Bongo antelopes. Mt Kenya also boasts of being a paradise for different species of birds. Mt Kenya has three peaks namely Batian which is 5,199 metres, Nelion which is 5,199 metres and Lenana which is 4,875 metres. This place used to be a shrine for the Kikuyu tribe and they believed that their god lived there.
